Drawn to the theatrical stage since he was a teenager,
Joshua Kobak started acting in high school and has gone on
to write and produce his own musicals.
At Medina High School during his freshman year, Joshua was one of the Sharks (Pepe) in West Side Story. The next year he played the part of Cleante in Moliere's The Miser. He performed in his high school's productions of Carousel(Marco the magician), Bye Bye Birdie(Albert Peterson), and Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman(Biff). In a summer workshop of Godspell, Joshua played the role of Jesus. Joshua Kobak went to college at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). He had chorus roles in Chess and Carousel,the first 2 shows he did at CCM. He also performed in CCM's productions of Is There Life After High School?by Craig Carnelia, 110 In The Shade(Noah Curry), Big River(Huck), and Assassins(Guiseppe Zangara). The summer between his sophomore and junior years, he participated in CCM's Hot Summer Nights program where they put on The Rink,Dino,and Confetti. Joshua wrote a couple songs for Confetti which was a collection of short stories, one in which he played the devil. During his senior year, CCM's spring workshop was, for the first time, dedicated to a student-written show, The Colors Of Love written by Joshua. Eventually The Colors Of Love was taken off campus and presented at the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati by The Liilaa Company. Liilaa, the theatre company founded by Joshua Kobak, Katy Pfaffl and Mickey Fisher, has gone on to produce The Colors Of Love and Subway Train in New York. Joshua's most recent stage role was in the second national tour of "RENT". He was a swing understudying two of the male lead roles, as well as four ensemble roles. Over a year and a half, the tour visited over 60 cities including San Francisco, Boston, Toronto, Vancouver, and Tokyo. |
